Terms of Service
Last updated
The agreement between you and Taleweave, kept as short and plain as we could make it. The part most particular to Taleweave is how shared stories work.
The agreement
By creating an account or using Taleweave, you agree to these terms, the Community Guidelines and the Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site. You can read stories without an account; these terms still apply.
Your account
- You must be 13 or older (16 where the law requires it) to have an account.
- One account per person. Accounts used to sway votes, or to get around a suspension, will be removed.
- Keep your password to yourself. You’re responsible for what happens on your account; if you think someone else has used it, change your password and end your other sessions in Settings.
- Your handle can’t impersonate someone else or be offensive; we may change one that is.
Your writing stays yours
You keep the copyright in everything you write on Taleweave. To show it here, you give Taleweave a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, format and distribute it on the site, in emails and in share previews, for as long as it’s on Taleweave. We don’t sell your writing, and we don’t license it to anyone else.
Only post writing that’s yours to post: your own work, not someone else’s, and nothing that breaks the law or someone else’s rights.
The rules
Follow the Community Guidelines. In short, don’t:
- post anything illegal, sexual content involving minors, or anything that encourages real-world harm;
- harass, threaten or impersonate anyone, or share their private information;
- post someone else’s work as your own;
- spam, trade votes, or use more than one account to sway a round;
- scrape the site in bulk, overload it, probe its security without permission, or get around its limits or a block.
Moderation
We can take down content that breaks these terms or the guidelines, and suspend or remove accounts that do, for a set time or for good. We’ll tell you what was taken down and why. If you think we got it wrong, write to [email protected] and we’ll look again.
Copyright complaints
If something on Taleweave copies your work, write to [email protected] with a link to it, where your original can be found, and a statement that you own the rights. We’ll remove copies we confirm, and repeat infringers lose their accounts.
Leaving
You can delete your account at any time in Settings; download your data first if you want to keep a copy. The Privacy Policy explains what’s removed and what stays in other people’s stories. We may close the service; if we do, we’ll give notice so you can download your writing.
No warranty, limited liability
Taleweave is free and provided “as is”. We work to keep it running and your writing safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available, error-free, or that nothing will ever be lost: keep your own copies of writing that matters to you.
Writers are responsible for what they post; Taleweave doesn’t check every word before it appears. To the extent the law allows, Taleweave isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the site. Nothing here limits rights you have that the law doesn’t allow to be limited.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we’ll tell signed-in writers on the site or by email before it takes effect; using Taleweave after that means you accept it. Questions: [email protected].
